Review: Lamy Safari Fountain Pen EF nib- Green Body

Heyloooo guys! Before I start off this long overdue review, I have to tell you to please tune in to Azizah's "Broadcast" as a special guest on FP Geeks. So yeah, it is 8 am tomorrow (March 16) Pacific time, like 11:00 AM Eastern Time, and yeah, if you live in any other time zone, figure it out yourself! I already put a reminder on my phone! Can't wait!

Anyways, this is a review of a simply amazing pen, so I suggest that you keep reading!

Yee-Haw!
So yeah. If you are oblivious to this world and do not know what this is, it is a Lamy Safari Fountain Pen! I bought this awhile ago from the one and only. . . Jetpens! I originally purchased it with a medium size nib, but then I realized I needed a smaller nib for note taking in school, so I purchased an EF nib for it.

Oh yeah man.
So here is both nibs side by side. The Medium is Stainless Steel, and the EF one is the Black material one (sorry. . .I don't know what it is called). What I really like is that the nibs change very easily. If you don't know how to change nibs, then I have a special way using tape. Muhahaha. But, its easy.
I took the pen apart...yeah. I'm cool like that.
This pen comes in a cardboard not-so-fancy box (as shown above), and comes with the Body, the nib of your choice, and a Lamy Blue Cartridge, that I do not have at the moment. I purchased a Lamy converter so I can have a party with my ink! Yeah come join the party!

I really can't think of a caption for this picture...just...just look at it. Yeah.
As shown above, I have paired this with my J. Herbin Bleu Myosotis Ink that can be found on Jetpens or Goulet Pens, or wherever else you find it. I love this ink! It is kinda a dark blue with some purpely hints. It is beautiful!

The ink dries within ten seconds. . .pretty quick! and it writes quite well with my EF nib. Many EF nibs are quite scratchy, but this one isn't so far. It's a pleasant writing experience.

So overall, I really LOVE this pen. The lime green color that I have was the 2012 limited edition one, so it will be going away soon. If you want this color, then get it fast! In my opinion, I really don't like the 2013 color. It is a neon yellow. Seriously?! They should have done a light purple. That would be awesome. So, if you want this pen, it is really great and I highly suggest it! Thanks for reading! I should have another review up tomorrow, so come back!

Jetpens- $28.00
Goulet Pens- $29.60

Disclaimer: All opinions are mine, and all items were purchased with my own money.

  1. Great reviews! I don't know if it was because of my "leftyness" but I never could make the Lamy EF nib work for me, it skipped and felt horribly scratchy (it ended up finding a loving home in Azizah's pens lol). But I haven't had problems with japanese EF nibs (which are really much fine), the Pilot Prera has a veeeery fine line and it's a smooth writer, no scratchiness for this lady :)

    1. Haha. Maybe it's just my nib, but mine seems okay. Maybe I got lucky (:

  2. Thanks for the great review. I love a fine nib, or even an extra fine. I have heard so much about the Lamy Safari I think I will just add it to my wish list. I love the color, too.

  3. The black nibs are steel too. The lamy has inconsistent nib sizing, ef is both ef and sometimes F :-) I just file down the fat ef. Great review!!
